Isenolic® and its benefits

Isenolic®   is an olive leaves extract, natural source of elenolic
acid standardized by HPLC.


  • Is able to interfere with essential amino acids production, which are critical for virus replication.
  • Contains viral infection and/or spread by inactivating viruses or by preventing virus shedding, budding, or assembly at the cell membrane.
  • Directly penetrates into the infected cells and stop viral replication.
  • Can neutralize the production of reverse transcriptase and protease in the case of retroviruses.


Isenolic® cold and flu are the most common illness. The high mutation ratio of a flu virus allows to beat vaccines and to become resistant to antiviral drugs, which also have several side effects.

Isenolic®  the way it works

Mechanism of action of Elenolic Acid against flu virus (Renis HE, 1969; Figure 1).

1. It interferes with the production of essential amino acids of viruses.

2. It contains viral infection by inactivating viruses or by preventing virus shedding, budding, or assembly at the cell membrane.

3. Ability to directly penetrate infected cells and stop viral replication.

4. In the case of retroviruses, it is able to neutralize the production of reverse transcriptase and protease.

5. Stimulation of phagocytosis.

Natural treatment strategies against cold and flu

Olive leaves (OLE) have been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy against different diseases (Agalias et al., 2005), and Elenolic acid natural component of OLE with proven antiviral properties (Obied HK et al., 2005; Hamdi KH & Castellon R, 2005).

The findings on the antimicrobial potential of elenolic acid began in the middle of the last century when studying the fermentation of table olives (Etchells et al, 1966; Fleming & Etchells, 1967). Fleming subsequently isolated in 1969 an inhibitor extract from such fermentation. Soret (1969) and Renis (1969) together with Walter et al., in 1973, studied the antimicrobial effect, and more specifically the antiviral effect of elenolic acid in different types of viruses associated with respiratory conditions related to the cold and the flu viruses.

This antiviral activity of Elenolic acid, together with the high antioxidant activity of Isenolic® , reinforce the relevant physiological and pharmaceutical benefits of this product for human health during seasonal and deficiency states.
